Singing K-5th graders
Introductory course to explore the basic elements of singing in a creative group setting. Students will learn the fundamentals of vocal techniques and sound production such as: breath, resonance, range, register, posture, vocal anatomy and body awareness.
An opportunity to learn from world music up to movie hits, in interactive and innovative ways, singing lyrics in multiple languages and being exposed to various music genres. The course will further refine basic music theory concepts and applications such as meter, rhythm, sight singing, harmony, form, and part singing. Students will gain a deeper understanding of the required skills needed to prepare, perform music individually and in group settings. By the end of the course, students will be expected to perform in a group, a variety of songs with stylization, historic context, attention to technical accuracy, and be evaluated on group performance practices and technical elements studied in the class.
